OUR FOCUS: Minneapolis Climate Action (MCA) is dedicated to expanding opportunities for young people (ages 18-24), with a particular focus on non-traditional fields that directly contribute to climate goals. We firmly believe that the four-year college degree is not the sole path for success and that offering a wide array of career exploration opportunities is essential for cultivating engaged and productive members of society. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between educational aspirations and tangible career pathways, ensuring that every young person has the chance to discover and pursue their passions.
CAREER EXPLORATION DETAILS
DESCRIPTION: This 5-week paid Internship opportunity is offered to young adults ages 18-24 that live in North Minneapolis. This paid internship aims to provide young adults with exposure and hands-on experience in nontraditional careers.
DATES: June 29-July 30 | Monday-Thursday | 9 am-1 pm
LOCATION: 1200 Plymouth Ave North, Minneapolis, MN 55411
Eligibility: Young Adult age 18-24 years of age at the start of the program that resides in North Minneapolis. Priority given to those living in the Green Zones.
Example of 5-week schedule:
Week 1: Orientation, OSHA 10 Safety Training
Week 2: Intro to Solar Concepts + Hands-On Labs
Week 3: Intro the Home Energy Careers-HVAC
Week 4: Intro to Home Energy Careers- Electrical Concepts
Week 5: Intro to Drone Operations
