"Minneapolis faces unique challenges. We have some of the worst racial disparities of any city in the nation. Historic segregation has led to gross injustice to the detriment of some of our most disadvantaged populations. We need to reconnect our disparate communities and build a shared vision for the future of our great city."
- Forrest Theisen
Some of our organizing initiatives have included: engaging "Recycling Block Leaders," building a generation of "Compost Captains," starting the US Headquarters for Boomerang Bags, organizing neighborhood transit use, gaining support for local Zero Waste efforts, educating and advocating for the Bring Your Own Bag ordinance, and much more.
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
- Malcolm X
Lack of action is often a result of a lack of education. Driving far-reaching change will require bringing the facts of climate change to light. Minneapolis Climate Action has worked hard to educate and empower our communities about the facts of climate change and the many innovative tools we have to improve sustainability at home and in our greater communities.
Minneapolis Climate Action has used the power of education to drive change in local schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and homes.
Our action campaigns include the organics recycling pilot, the Boomerang Bag reusable bag coop, community solar, home energy efficiency, and many more are in the works.
