Join our Board of Directors

Minneapolis Climate Action is actively seeking new additions to our Board of Directors to more accurately reflect the communities we serve and increase our impact on addressing our climate emergency. While we encourage all to apply, we are actively seeking board members that are members of the Black, Indigenous, People of Color community. G.et to know our current board members here.

Board terms are 3 years and we meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 3537 Nicollet Ave S. Currently we are meeting via Zoom because of COVID-19 safety guidelines.

We have created this list of board member characteristics based on the MN Council of Nonprofits Board Characteristics:

  1. We strive to have board members who are representative of the organization’s constituents.
  2. Board members should be committed to the mission and the success of Minneapolis Climate Action.
  3. Board members should actively develop an understanding of the mission, ongoing activities, finances, business model, and changes in the operating environment of Minneapolis Climate Action.
  4. Board members should value diversity and understand the role of broad participation and the importance of including diverse groups of people in the current and future success of the organization’s work.
  5. To demonstrate their personal stake in the organization, board members are expected to volunteer their time, help raise external funds, and make personal financial contributions to the organization. We also understand that contribution of time is as valuable as financial contributions if your income prohibits contributions.

Board members  receive no monetary compensation for their board duties other than reimbursement for board-related expenses.
